2: beHroN kaa bayaan

2.1: Urdu kee beHreN

Urdu meiN jitnee beHreN istaimaal hotee haiN voh sab Arabee se lee gayee haiN. aur yeh ta'daad meiN kul unnees (19) haiN. in meiN ba'z meiN saalim arkaan istaimaal hote haiN, ba'z meiN ziHaafaat bhee istaimaal hote haiN aur ba'z apnee saalim shakl meiN Urdu meiN kabhee istaimaal naheeN hotee haiN. beHroN kee taqseem ke muKhtalif tareeqe haiN. in se beHr pehchaanee jaatee hai aur misre yaa sher kee taqtee karte vaqt is kaa naam liyaa jaa saktaa hai:

(a) apnee vaza' (istaimaal kee shakl) ke liHaaz se beHreN do (2) taraH kee hotee haiN:

(a.1) voh beHreN jin meiN aik hee rukn kee takraar hotee hai :mufarrid: kehlaatee haiN. Molana Hali kaa misra (muraadeN GhareeboN kee bar laane vaalaa) isee qism kee misaal hai kyoN.k us kee taqtee' meiN aik hee rukn :fa-oo-lun: kee takraar hai:

fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun

(a.2) voh beHreN jo aik se ziyaadah arkaan kee tarkeeb se bantee haiN :murakkab: kehlaatee haiN. is kee misaaleN aage aayeN.gee.

(b) apnee lambaa'ee ke liHaaz se beHreN do (2) qism kee hotee haiN:

(b.1) musamman (ya'nee aaTh (8) arkaan vaalee): voh beHreN jin ke her misre meiN chaar (4) arkaan hote haiN :musamman: kehlaatee haiN kyoN.k sher ke donoN misroN ko milaa kar is meiN aaTh (8) arkaan hote haiN. Molana Hali ke misre kee beHr musamman hai.

(b.2) musaddas (ya'nee Chhe (6) arkaan vaalee): voh beHreN jin ke her misre meiN teen (3) arkaan hote haiN :musaddas: kehlaatee haiN kyoN.k sher ke donoN misroN ko milaa kar is meiN Chhe (6) arkaan hote haiN. misaal aage aayegee.

Note: agar kisee beHr ke her misre meiN teen (3) kee bajaaye Chhe (6), yaa chaar (4) kee bajaaye aaTh (8) arkaan hoN to beHr ko phir bhee :musaddas: yaa :musamman: hee kehte haiN lekin us ke ba'd bayaan meiN :mudaai'if: (ya'nee do.gunaa) likh dete haiN.

(c) ba'z aisee beHreN haiN jin ke her misre meiN chaar (4) arkaan is taraH hote haiN k pehle do arkaan kee takraar se un kee tashkeel hotee hai, maslan:

faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-lun faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-lun

aisee beHr ko beHr.e.shakasta yaa beHr.e.mukarrar kehte haiN.

2.2: taqtee' aur beHr

jab kisee Ghazal ko arooz kee madad se jaaNch kar uss kee shanaaKht aur shakl qaa’em kee jaatee hai to uss ke bayaan aur tafheem meiN chand baateN darj kee jaatee haiN. in kee tafseel per aa’inda beHs hogee.

(a) taqtee' kyaa hai?:

voh amal jis ke zari'e kisee sher yaa misre ko afaa'eel kee taraazoo meiN chaRhaa kar us kee beHr qaa'em kee jaatee hai :taqtee': (te, qaf,toe, Chotee ye, ain) kehlaataa hai. taqtee' voh kasauTee hai jis meiN manzoomaat parakh kar un kee funee aGhlaat kee shanaaKht kee jaatee hai aur yeh faisila kiyaa jaataa hai k sher kis beHr meiN hai aur voh beHr se Khaarij to naheeN hai.

(b) taqtee' kaa bayaan:

jab kisee misre yaa sher kee taqtee' bayaan karte haiN to sab se pehle beHr kaa naam likhte haiN, phir yeh bataate haiN k voh musamman hai yaa musaddas. phir agar voh saalim hai to :saalim: likh dete haiN lekin agar us meiN ziHaafaat haiN to jis tarteeb se us meiN ziHaafaat aaye haiN usee tarteeb se un ko bayaan kar diyaa jaataa hai

2.3: Urdu meiN musta'mil beHreN

ooper yeh kahaa gayaa thaa k Urdu meiN unnees (19) beHreN istaimaal hotee haiN. dar asl beHreN to bohat ziyaada istaimaal hotee haiN lekin yahaaN sirf un ko hee ginvaanaa maqsood hai jo yaa to saalim shakloN meiN musta'mil haiN yaa apnee muzaaHif shakl meiN. agar saalim ke saath muzaaHif shakloN ko ginaa jaaye to ta'daad 19 se bohat ziyaada ho jaatee hai. neeche jo 19 baHoor (sing: beHr) apne arkaan ke saath dee jaa rahee haiN un meiN se jo muzaaHif shakloN meiN musta'mil haiN un kee shanaaKht kar dee gayee hai:

2.4: talaffuz aur taqtee'
usool.e.taqtee' ke mutaabiq alfaaz jis taraH paRhe jaate haiN usee taraH un kee taqtee' bhee kee jaatee hai. is liye ash'aar kee taqtee' ke liye alfaaz ke imlaa kee rehnumaa'ee her maqaam per durust aur mo'tabar naheeN hai. maslan : ham 'KHooshee' (Khe, vav, sheen, ChhoTee ye) likhte haiN lekin 'Khushee' (jaise Khe per pesh ho aur vav Ghaa’ib ho) paRhte haiN. yehee doosraa talaffuz taqtee' meiN istaimaal kiyaa jaayegaa. kon saa lafz kab ChhoTaa yaa baRaa kar ke paRhaa jaaye?: is kee tafseel kaa yeh moqa' naheeN hai. agar shaa'ir zoq.e.saleem rakhtaa hai aur shaa'iree ke zer.o.bam (rhythm) se vaaqif hai to baGhair talaffuz aur taqtee' ke saare usool paRhe voh taqreeban hamesha apne kalaam ko saaf suthraa aur taqtee' ke liHaaz se saHeeH banaa saktaa hai.

kuChh Huroof taqtee' meiN naheeN liye jaate haiN. in se thoRee see vaaqifiyyat honee chaahiye taa.k apnee Ghalatee Khud hee saHeeH karne meiN aasaanee ho.

darj.e.zail aavaazeN taqtee' meiN naheeN lee jaatee haiN :

(1) do.chashmee 'hey' agar voh lafz ke beech mein yaa aaKhir meiN aaye, maslan : paRhnaa, doodh vaGhira.

(2) noon.e.Ghunna (nasal 'noon') chaahe voh lafz ke beech meiN ho yaa aaKhir meiN.

(3) voh 'vav' jo paRhne meiN naheeN aataa hai maslan : Khush, Khwaab vaGhaira.

(4) yaa.e.maKhloot (ya'nee voh 'ye' jo lafz meiN khap kar apnaa alag vujood taqreeban kho de) maslan : kyoN, kyaa vaGhaira.

(5) agar teen (3) saakin Huroof (ya'nee voh Huroof jin ko bolne meiN Harkat naheeN denee paRtee hai) aik saath aa.jaayeN to aaKhir saakin lafz taqtee' meiN nazar.andaaz kiyaa jaa saktaa hai, maslan : zeest ke teen Huroof ( ye, seen, te) saakin haiN, chunaanche 'te' ko taqtee' meiN nazar.andaaz karnaa durust ho gaa.

(6) misre ke aaKhir mein jo saakin lafz akelaa bach jaaye usko taqtee' meiN nazar andaaz kar dete haiN. maslan aik misra hai:

gulshan meiN band.o.bast ba.raNg.e.digar hai aaj

is misre kee aaKhiree 'jeem' saakin hai aur taqtee' meiN naheeN lee jaayegee.

2.5: chaNd vazaaHateN

ab baat us manzil per aa gayee hai k baGhair vazaaHatee imsaal (sing: misaal) aur un per tafseelee guftugoo ke matlab samjhaanaa taqreeban naa.mumkin hogaa. aa’inda in safHaat meiN jo masaa'il pesh kiye jaayeNge un ke baare meiN chand umoor bayaan karnaa zarooree ma'loom hotaa hai.

(1) muKhtalif beHroN kee jo misaaleN pesh kee jaayeNgee un kaa naqsha yooN hogaa:

(a) beHr kaa bayaan chooN.k pehle ho chukaa hai is liye yahaaN sirf us kee jaanib muKhtasar ishaara kiyaa jaayegaa. agar zarooree huaa to us ke ziHaafaat banaane kaa tareeqa aur un ziHaafaat kaa naam diyaa jaayega aur misaal ke liye diye sher meiN un kee pehchaan bataayee jaayegee.

(b) misaal ke sher kee taqtee kee jaayegee aur us ke voh pehloo muKhtasar taur per bataa diye jaayeNge jo ba.yak nazar zaahir naheeN haiN.

(2) sirf voh beHreN bayaan hoNgee jo ziyaada musta'mil haiN. zaahir hai k her beHr kaa bayaan na to mumkin hai aur na hee zarooree.

(3) meree naa.cheez raa'e meiN aap aage kee beHs se ziyaadah faa'ida uThaa sakte haiN agar her beHr per ruk kar us kee taqtee' kaa gehraa tajziyah kareN aur yeh dekheN k kis taraH misre ke tukRoN kee lambaa'ee aur adaa'igee kaa taal.mail arkaan ke saath kiyaa gayaa hai. agar aap misra aur us kee taqtee' bulaNd aavaaz se ruk ruk kar adaa kareN to shaayad is saare amal ko samajhne meiN aasaanee hogee.

(4) shaa'iree aur taqtee' aik fun (art) hai, 'science' naheeN hai! lihaaza is meiN kaheeN kaheeN chand usooloN ke teHt kuChh aazaadee bartee jaa saktee hai. reh gaye voh usool jo is fun meiN mustasniyaat (exceptions) ko qaabil.e.qubool banaate haiN to voh hamesha se barte jaa rahe haiN. asaatiza ne sadiyoN isee aNdaaz se kaam kiyaa hai. is liye ab hamaaraa in per e'tiraaz karnaa bekaar hai. behtar hai k in ko qubool kar ke ham ilm Haasil kareN. yeh dekhaa gayaa hai k jin logoN ne in usooloN ko toRaa hai voh apnee shaa'iree kee lataafat aur Husn meiN se bohat kuChh kho beThe haiN.

(5) yeh saaree beHs aur Khaas taur se beHr aur un ke ziHaafaat ziyaadah saaf taur se us vaqt samajhe jaa sakte haiN jab in ko Urdu meiN likh liyaa jaaye aur phir in per Ghaur kiyaa jaaye. yeh is liye zarooree hai k Roman Urdu meiN :transliterate: karte hue voh kuChh istaimaal karnaa hotaa hai jo Urdu meiN mojood naheeN hai. phir Urdu ke zer, zabar aur pesh likhe to naheeN jaate haiN lekin paRhe to jaate haiN aur in kee aavaazoN ko Roman meiN likhnaa zarooree hai. is se mushkil pedaa hotee hai. aap kee sahoolat ke liye isee liye is se qabl tamaam arkaan ke Huroof.e.tahajjee likh diye gaye the. un ko dekh leejiye.

2.6: beHr.e.rajaz

is beHr ke afaa'eel (arkaan) yooN haiN:

mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun

Urdu shaa'iree meiN is kee saalim aur muzaaHif donoN shakleN istaimaal hotee haiN. donoN sooratoN kee aik aik misaal neeche dee jaa rahee hai.

2.6.1: beHr.e.rajaz, musamman, saalim : ya'nee beHr.e.rajaz kee voh shakl jis meiN saalim arkaan apnee musamman (aaTH-ruknee) soorat meiN istaimaal kiye gaye haiN, goyaa her misre meiN to chaar hee arkaan haiN lekin sher ke donoN misroN ko milaa kar kul aaTh arkaan gine jaa sakte haiN. Mir Taqi Mir kaa sher aur us kee taqtee' dekhiye:
ae mujh se tujh ko sau mile tujh saa na paayaa aik maiN
sau sau kaheeN too ne magar muNh per na laayaa aik maiN

mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun mus-taf-i-lun

2.6.2: beHr.e.rajaz, musamman, mutawee, maKhboon : ya'nee beHr.e.rajaz kee voh musamman shakl jis meiN do (2) taraH ke ziHaaf istaimaal kiye gaye haiN. yeh ziHaaf un tareeqoN se Haasil kiye gaye haiN jin ko bil.tarteeb :tai: aur :Khaban: kehte haiN. in kaa muKhtasar bayaan neeche diyaa jaa rahaa hai.

tai (toe, baRee ye): mus-taf-i-lun meiN se Harf :fe: nikaal deN to :mus-ta-i-lun: bach jaataa hai jis ko :muf-ta-i-lun: se badal dete haiN goyaa :muf-ta-i-lun: mutawee (amal.e.:tai: se banaayaa gayaa) ziHaaf hai :mus-taf-i-lun: kaa.Khaban: mus-taf-i-lun meiN se Harf :seen: nikaal deejiye to :mu.taf.i.lun: reh jaataa hai. is ko :mu-faa-i-lun: banaa dete haiN goyaa yeh :mus-taf-i-lun: kaa :maKhbooN: ziHaaf hai.

ab dekhiye yeh donoN ziHaafaatt neeche taqtee' meiN isee tarteeb se kaise aa'te haiN:

Ghuncha.e.naa.shagufta ko door se mat dikhaa k yooN
bosey ko pooChhtaa hooN maiN muNh se mujhe bataa k yooN (Ghalib)

Note: yeh beHr shakasta hai kyoN.k is meiN pehle do (2) arkaan kee takraar hai. yeh zikr pehle ho chukaa hai.

2.7: beHr.e.ramal : is beHr kee donoN shakleN (musaddas aur musamman) Urdu meiN istaimaal hotee haiN. is ke arkaan yooN haiN:

faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-laa-tun

is beHr ke ziHaafaat banaane kee soorateN darj.e.zail haiN:

(a) Hazaf : faa-i-laa-tun ka :tun: nikaal deejiye to :faa-i-laa: bachtaa hai jis ko :faa-i-lun: se badal dete haiN aur is ko :meHzoof: kehte haiN.

(b) shakl : faa-i-laa-tun kaa pehlaa :alif: aur :noon: nikaal deN to :fa-i-laat: bach rehtaa hai. is ziHaaf ko :faa-i-laa-tun: kee :mashkool: shakl kehte haiN.

(c) Khaban : faa-i-laa-tun kaa pehlaa :alif: nikaal deN to :fa-i-laa-tun: reh jaataa hai jo :faa-i-laa-tun: kaa maKhbooN ziHaaf kehlaataa hai.

(d) qata' : ooper (a) meiN faa-i-lun aik meHzoof shakl hai. is meiN se Harf :noon: nikaal deejiye aur aaKhiree Harf :laam: ko saakin kar deejiye to yeh amal :qata': kehlaataa hai. rukn :faa-i-l: ko :fa'-lun: se badal dete haiN aur us ko :maqtoo': (meem, qaaf, toe, vav, ain) kehte haiN. ab in shakloN kee misaaleN aur taqtee' dekhiye. yeh yaad rakhiye k (d) dar. asl (c) ke aNdar shaamil hai!

2.7.1: beHr.e.ramal, musamman, meHzoof : ya'nee voh beHr.e.ramal jis meiN aaTh arkaan haiN aur jis meiN meHzoof ziHaaf (faa-i-lun) istaimaal kiyaa gayaa hai:

2.7.2: beHr.e.ramal, musamman, mashkool : ya'nee beHr.e.ramal kee voh aaTh-ruknee shakl jis meiN mashkool ziHaaf (fa-i-laat) istaimaal kiyaa gayaa hai:

yeh na thee hamaaree qismat k visaal.e.yaar hotaa
agar aur jeete rehte yehee intizaar hotaa (Ghalib)

fa-i-laat faa-i-laa-tun fa-i-laat faa-i-laa-tun

yeh na thee ha maaree qismat k visaal.e yaar hotaa

agar aur jeete rehte yehee inti zaar hotaa

Note: yeh beHr shakastah hai.

2.7.3: beHr.e.ramal, musamman, maKhboon, meHzoof, maqtoo' : ya'nee beHr.e.ramal kee voh aaTh-ruknee shakl jis meiN, bil.tarteeb, :faa-i-laa-tun: ke maKhboon, meHzoof-maqtoo' ziHaafaat istaimaal kiye gaye haiN:

nafas.e.Qais k hai chashm.o.chiraaGh.e.seHraa
na sahee shama.e.siyah.Khaana.e.Lailaa na sahee (Ghalib)

fa-i-laa-tun fa'-laa-tun fa'-laa-tun fa'-lun

dekhiye k donoN misroN kaa pehlaa rukn :fa-i-laa-tun: hai :faa-i-laa-tun: naheeN hai. is beHr meiN is kee ijaazat hai. doosraa aur teesraa rukn :fa'-laa-tun: hai aur aaKhiree meHzoof-maqtoo' ya'nee :fa'-lun: hai.

2.7.4: beHr.e.ramal, musaddas, meHzoof : ya'nee beHr.e.ramal kee voh Chhe-ruknee shakl jis meiN us kaa meHzoof ziHaaf (faa-i-lun) istaimaal huaa hai. dekhiye k her misre meiN teen arkaan haiN lekin donoN misroN ko milaa kar Chhe (6) ho jaate haiN aur isee liye is ko :musaddas: (Chhee-ruknee) kahaa jaataa hai:

haiN kavaakib kuChh nazar aate haiN kuChh
detey haiN dhokaa yeh baazee.gar khulaa (Ghalib)

faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-laa-tun faa-i-lun

2.7.5: beHr.e.ramal, musaddas, maKhboon, meHzoof : ya'nee beHr.e.ramal ke voh Chhe-ruknee shakl jis meiN maKhboon (faa-i-laa-tun kee maKhboon shakl fa-i-laa-tun) aur meHzoof (faa-i-laa-tun kee meHzoof shakl fa-i-lun) ziHaafaat istaimaal kiye gaye haiN:

ishq mujh ko naheeN veHshat hee sahee
meree veHshat tiree shohrat hee sahee (Ghalib)

faa-i-laa-tun fa-i-laa-tun fa-i-lun

ishq mujh ko naheeN veHshat hee sahee

meree veHshat tiree shohrat hee sahee

2.8: beHr.e.Khafeef : Urdu mein yeh beHr sirf musaddas shakl meiN hee istaimaal hotee hai. yeh apnee musamman shakl meiN kabhee istaimaal naheeN hotee hai aur na hee saalim aatee hai, ya'nee is kee sirf muzaaHif shakleN hee musta'mil haiN. is beHr ke saalim arkaan yooN haiN:

faa-i-laa-tun mus-taf-i-lun faa-i-laa-tun
apnee muzaaHif shakloN meiN is kaa pehlaa rukn fa-i-laa-tun aur aaKhiree rukn fa-i-lun ho saktaa hai. aap ko yaad ho gaa k :mus-taf-i-lun: kee maKhboon shakl :fa-i-laa-tun: hai aur :fa'-l-un: usee kee maqtoo' shakl hai. is beHr kee do muzaaHif shakleN neeche dee jaa rahee haiN:

2.8.1: is misaal meiN pehle misre meiN :fa-il-aa-tun: aur doosre misre meiN :faa-i-laa-tun: istaimaal hue haiN. is kee vajh misroN meiN :dil: aur :aaKhir: ke talaffuz kaa farq hai:

dil.e.naadaaN tujhe huaa kyaa hai
aaKhir si dard kee davaa kyaa hai (Ghalib)

2.8.2: doosree misaal meiN aik misre kaa aaKhiree rukn :fa'-lun: hai aur doosre kaa :fa-i-lun: hai:

baNdigee meiN miraa bhalaa na huaa (Ghalib)

faa-i-laa-tun mu-faa-i-lun fa'-lun

2.9: beHr.e.kaamil : yeh beHr hamaare yahaaN umooman :musamman, saalim: (ya'nee apnee aaTh.ruknee shakl meiN saalim arkaan ke saath) ziyaadah maqbool hai. is kee :musaddas, saalim: (ya'nee Chhe ruknee shakl, saalim afaa'eel ke saath) bhee kabhee kabhee nazar aa.jaatee hai, lekin yeh soorat ziyaadah maqbool naheen hai. is beHr kee musamman, saalim shakl ke arkaan aur is kee aik misaal darj.e.zail haiN:

kabhee ae Haqeeqat.e.muntazir nazar aa libaas.e.majaaz meiN
k hazaaroN sajde taRap rahe haiN miree jabeen.e.niyaaz meiN (Iqbal)

mu-ta-faa-i-lun mu-ta-faa-i-lun mu-ta-faa-i-lun mu-ta-faa-i-lun

kabhee ae Haqee qat.e muntazir nazar aa libaa s.e majaaz meiN

2.10: beHr.e.muta'qaarib : yeh Urdu kee bohat maqbool beHroN meiN se aik hai. is beHr ke arkaan darj.e.zail haiN:

fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun

yeh beHr umooman musamman (aaTh-ruknee) hee istaimaal hotee hai aur is kee musaddas (Chhe ruknee) shakl kam nazar aatee hai. is kee muKhtalif shakleN neeche dee jaa rahee haiN:

2.10.1: beHr.e.muta,qaarib, musamman, saalim : ya'nee beHr.e.muta,qaarib kee voh aaTh.ruknee shakl jis meiN sirf saalim arkaan istaimaal kiye gaye haiN.

voh nabiyoN meiN reHmat laqab paane vaalaa
muraadeN GhareeboN kee bar laane vaalaa (Hali)

is sher kee taqtee' yooN hai:

fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun fa-oo-lun

voh nabiyoN meiN reHmat laqab paa ne vaalaa

2.10.3: beHr.e.mutaqaarib, musamman, maqbooz, aslam, mudaa'if : ya'nee is beHr kee voh aaTh ruknee shakl jis meiN :fa-oo-lun: ke :maqbooz aur aslam: ziHaafaat is taraH istaimaal hote haiN k un kee ta'daad do.gunee kar dee jaatee hai. in ziHaafaat kee soorat yooN hai:

maqbooz: agar :fa-oo-lun: meiN se Harf :noon: nikaal deN to :fa-oo-l: reh jaataa hai jo :fa-oo-lun: kaa :maqbooz: ziHaaf kehlaataa hai.

aslam: agar :fa-oo-lun: meiN se sirf :fe: nikaal deN to :oo-lun: reh jaataa hai jis ko :fa-lun: se badal dete haiN aur yehee :aslam: ziHaaf hai.
neeche ke sher meiN yeh ziHaafaat isee tarteeb se aayeN.ge aur her misr meiN arkaan kee ta'daad aaTh hogee goyaa poore sher meiN sola (16) arkaan hoNge:

2.10.4: beHr.e.muta’qaarib, musaddas, maqbooz, aslam , mudaa'if : ya'nee is beHr kee voh Chhe.ruknee shakl jis meiN :maqbooz aur aslam: ziHaafaat isee tarteeb se lekin apnee do.gunee ta'daad meiN istaimaal kiye gaye haiN. in ziHaafaat ke banaane kee tafseel yooN hai:

(1) qabz: agar :fa-oo-lun: kee :noon: nikaal deN to jo bach jaataa hai ya'nee :fa-ool: is ko :fa-oo-lun: kaa maqbooz ziHaaf kehte haiN.

(2) agar :fa-oo-lun: kee :fey: nikaal deN to :oo-lun: bachtaa hai jis ko badal kar :fa-lun: kar diyaa jaataa hai. yeh amal :salam: aur yeh shakl :fa-oo-lun: kaa aslam ziHaaf kehlaatee hai.

neeche kee misaal meiN yeh ziHaafaat isee tarteeb se aaye haiN aur un kee taa'daad ko do.gunaa bhee kar diyaa gayaa hai. yeh beHr kee musaddas shakl hai chunaan.che her misre meiN Chhe (6) arkaan hoN.ge aur poore sher meiN baara (12).
